My initial thought was to name it psychedelic chevron, but then I was watching V for Vendetta and remembered the title "The Mud Flats" mentioned in the movie and thought it might fit.Feel free to share your title inspiration in the comments. Extra brownie points if it makes me laugh!
Inspiration - This is actually a very simple variation of the beginner design Cartoon Tree.
Some filler designs just pop into my head like magic, while others come when I'm looking through the designs and think "what if I did something different right there?"
I'm never worried that I will have 365 different designs because the variations are so endless!
Difficulty Level - Beginner. This is really just as simple as stitching the letter "v" with rounded ends. The effect looks so complicated, but the actual quilting is very easy.
Directional Texture - All directions. Technically this is a 2 direction filler because it's worked from edge to edge, but depending on how wiggly your "v" shapes are, your eyes really won't catch it.
Suggestions for Use - Play with this one in your sashing or borders. I think it would also make for a terrific free form, organic quilt when matched with tree bark, pebbles in a stream, or pebbling.

I have long advocated, at the suggestion of Karen McTavish, doodling as a way of training your brain to make the motions for FMQ. I print your blog posts, and put a few in my sketchbook. When I'm on the train, or in a guild meeting, I'm often doodling your designs, or some of my own, and I find that when I sit down with my Juki, the stitching just flows a little bit better. Thank you for sharing your creativity, and I've been directing folks to your blog from my own, Fiberquest.

these are really fun to watch.......maybe just maybe I'm going to try some free motion quilting.
